Our Service

We provide Adult Day Care Services for people who are socially isolated and /or physically or mentally frail.  Most of our service users are over 55 but we also have younger adults with other conditions such as brain injuries or learning disabilities.  We have trained care staff that keep an eye on the users of the centre and respond to any needs they have such as taking part in activities, moving around the centre, or any needs around their health and wellbeing.

photo 2When you come to the Centre you join the Santosh family.  We become brothers and sisters that look out for each other, have many happy conversations and share the day with good humour.  A typical day at Santosh involves being picked up from your home by one of our drivers around 9am to bring you to the Centre.  A breakfast of chai and sev mumra is served from 9.30-10.30am. This is followed by an exercise class that encourages individuals to move to their full potential; some in their chairs, some standing up. Then Aarti and Bhajans are sung before lunch.  Lunch includes a range of curries, dal or kadhi, breads, rice and yoghurt.  The food is different every day.  We pride ourselves in our lunches, which are made using fresh vegetables from local grocery shops.

Afternoons are usually quieter with a film or discussion group.  Tea/coffee is served at 2pm before we return you home around 3pm.

We provide a range of activities designed to stimulate clients both physically and mentally, and to encourage socialisation. We have morning and afternoon activities and enable service users to choose what they would like to do.  These activities include armchair exercise, laughing yoga, games, religious discussion, bhajans, antakshari, knitting, cooking, crafts, watching films, outings and many others.

Day care for older people offers these benefits:

·         Prevention or delay of residential admission

·         Respite for carers

·         Maintenance or recovery of skills

·         Minimising dependency

·         Promotion of self-esteem

·         Increased social inclusion.

We have found that many users of our centre increase their levels of health and wellbeing as a result of our care, meals and activities.

We provide transport to the centre and back home using specially adapted vehicles.  We pick you up between 9 and 10am and then drop you back home after 2.30pm.

Meals & Refreshments
Our Indian cuisine is of a very high standard and keeps our day centre users coming back for more.  We provide homestyle Gujarati food made with fresh vegetables.  We don’t cut corners using tinned or frozen food.  There is a lot of preparation involved in making our curries.  The menu changes every day but there are always two curries, dal or kadhi, rotli, poppodom, rice and yoghurt.  We cater for different dietary requirements such as no salt, sugar, onions, garlic or chilli.  This flexible catering provision enables people to follow their own religious beliefs.  Service users pay £4 for their lunch.
